Sir Robert Long
Sir Robert Long, politician and lawyer, was buried in the south choir aisle of Westminster Abbey on 28 July 1673 but he has no monument or marker. He was a son of Sir Walter Long, of Draycot and Wraxall in Wiltshire, by his second wife Katherine (Thynne).
He was Surveyor General to Queen Henrietta Maria and was involved with drainage projects in Lincolnshire. Later he was secretary to the young Prince of Wales and was Auditor of the Exchequer and a Privy Councillor when the prince became Charles II.
Created a Baronet in 1662 but as he was unmarried the baronetcy went to his nephew Sir James Long at his death.
